About the service

Recover stronger after a heart event or surgery. MedCAiRE’s Cardiac Rehab program is a coordinated, physician-prescribed pathway combining clinical nursing oversight, supervised exercise, and functional medicine strategies to help you rebuild confidence, improve cardiovascular fitness, and reduce future risk.

Who Cardiac Rehab Helps

With a cardiologist’s referral, we care for patients recovering from:

  • Heart attack (MI), stent, bypass (CABG), or valve surgery
  • Stable angina, heart failure, or arrhythmia procedures
  • Other cardiac conditions as advised by your specialist

How Our Program Works (Phases I–IV)

Phase I – Hospital & Discharge Coordination

  • Liaise with your hospital team and cardiologist for a seamless transition.

Phase II – Supervised Outpatient Rehab (Weeks 1–12)

  • Nurse-led intake & risk stratification: full vitals, ECG-compatible monitoring, medication review
  • Gradual aerobic and resistance exercise with continuous nursing supervision
  • Education on cardiac medications, nutrition, stress, and sleep
  • Functional medicine review: nutrient optimization (e.g., IV micronutrients, targeted vitamin injections) to enhance recovery when appropriate

Phase III – Medically-Informed Training

  • Transition to progressive strength and endurance work under the supervison of our Osteopath and Athletic Therapist
  • Individualized goal-setting, technique coaching, and performance tracking

Phase IV – Long-Term Prevention & Wellness

  • Maintenance and prevention plans integrating
    • periodic nursing re-assessments
    • functional medicine supports (e.g., IV vitamin infusions, metabolic health optimization)
    • lifestyle coaching for weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol management

The MedCAiRE Nurse Practice Team

Our Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner team is central to every stage:

  • Clinical Assessment & Monitoring: vitals, ECG-compatible heart-rate monitoring, medication reconciliation, and symptom tracking
  • Progress Tracking & Reporting: regular communication with your cardiologist and family physician
  • Supervision During Sessions: ensuring safe intensity progression, watching for signs of angina, arrhythmia, or blood-pressure changes
  • Functional Medicine Integration: evidence-informed therapies—like IV vitamin infusions (Myers’ Cocktail, NAD+), iron optimization (Venofer/Monofer), and immune or metabolic support—to help reduce fatigue, improve energy, and support overall healing when clinically indicated

This blend of medical safety and functional wellness helps patients feel stronger, faster, and stay healthier long after the formal program ends.

Coordinated Team Effort

A unique strength of MedCAiRE’s program is our collaborative approach:

  • Osteopath Clinic Director (Filipe Corredoura) works closely with our Certified Athletic Therapist to ensure every exercise prescription respects proper joint mechanics, spinal alignment, and postural ergonomics.
  • This collaboration protects against injury and reinforces efficient movement patterns—critical for cardiac patients where safe mechanical loading and energy conservation matter.
  • Together with the Nurse Practice team, they design and adjust each phase of your program for optimal cardiovascular and musculoskeletal recovery.
